IPL hair removal

Hair Removal

  • Facial electrolysis targets individual hair follicles, by using a sterile probe.

This process transmits an electrical current to the area where your hair follicle lives, removing the blood supply and stem cells that allow the individual hair follicle to grow.

This permanent hair removal treatment is effective for both vellus and terminal hair. Vellus hair is much like peach fuzz in appearance, it is short, white and fine. In contrast, terminal hair is dark and thick.

Facial electrolysis works on any type of hair colour and can be an effective treatment to manage excess hair growth for conditions that have caused this due to hormonal fluctuations. Such conditions include: PCOS and menopause. Other causes for unwanted hair growth are from certain steroid based medications and high levels of androgens (male hormones).

At Evolution of Skin & Hair we offer electrolysis sessions that range from 10 - 60 minutes.

If you are ready to resolve your excess hair growth, book your electrolysis consultation today. .

  • IPL is used to reduce hair growth, most effectively in darker, coarser hair.

Broad-spectrum light is applied to the surface of the skin, targeting melanin. This light travels through the skin until it strikes the hair shafts or hair follicle. The follicle is usually where the highest concentration of melanin is located. As the light is absorbed, the bulb and most of the hair shaft is heated, destroying the hair.

At any one time, not all hair follicles are 'active', and only active hair follicles can be affected by the treatment. 'Inactive' hair follicles can be treated as they become 'active' over time, recommendations of 8-10 treatments are required.
